“The seventh is a fine long two-shotter and has, I think, as impressive and terrifying a tee shot as is to be found inland. The ground, sandy, and heather-clad, slopes upward to a heathery knoll beyond which lies unseen the promised land of fairway. To carry hat crest against anything of a breeze requires a very honest hit, and, lest it be too much for the humbler brethren, there is a little grassy pocket of safety short of the hill-top. Once over the top there is still a long and excellent second to be played, since the hole measures 440 yards, but it is the tee shot, which might almost be at Sandwich or Burnham, that is so memorable.”
