Membership

There are two ways of joining West Sussex Golf Club as a new member. The preferred way is to be proposed and seconded by two existing members who have known you for at least 3 years. Your proposer will guide you through the application process.

If you have recently moved into the area and are not known to any current members, there is a self-proposing option which involves submitting a personal application letter and form together with providing letters of support from suitable referees. In this case, you will be invited to play a round with a current member, prior to being invited to start the application process.

Applicants who are successful at each stage of an interview, a golf play-in round, and a period in the Candidates’ Book go to the Board for approval. If this is forthcoming, applicants are placed in a waiting pool from which new members will be selected from time to time, when vacancies allow.

Once selected, you will be invited to join and become a member on payment of the current joining fee and six-monthly subscription.

Fees

Subscriptions are payable in half yearly instalments. For full members, the joining fee is a multiple of the annual subscription. A reducing scale is applied for candidates aged between 18 and 40.

Full details of our membership application procedures and current fees are available by request through your sponsoring member or, if you are going through the self-proposing route, directly from the Club Secretary.
