Visitor Information

West Sussex warmly receives all visitors to the club. Most come as guests of members or within a society, but visitors without a sponsor are also welcome to play here and enjoy our facilities, subject to the usual formalities. The combination of high quality heathland golf and good food and drink should ensure a memorable visit.

This is a club of traditional ethos with high standards both on the Course and in the Clubhouse. Visitors and visiting groups or societies are asked, please, to make a prior booking through the professional. Obviously, this is necessary so that visitors can be accommodated properly within a typically busy club diary. We also ask that visitors must be members of a recognised golf club and that they should hold a current handicap. A handicap certificate may possibly be required when checking in at the club. Society secretaries are asked to take responsibility for this, although for seasoned golfers a call to our secretary or professional should sort out any problems.

Enjoy Your Stay

To ensure that full rounds are completed in little more than three hours the convention at West Sussex is to play either singles or 2-ball foursomes.

Other than for formal dining from 12.00 to 15.00, there is no need to book for casual dining in the club house (or on the terrace), where light breakfast is served from 08.00. The daily lunch menu is available from 12.00 to 15.00 and tea thereafter. Our new “Orangery” extension provides additional space for informal dining and for bar and reception facilities.

Opening Hours

The Clubhouse opens at 08:00 and closes at 18:00 in the Winter, 19:30 in the Spring and Autumn and 21:00 in the Summer. The Secretary’s Office is open from 09:00 – 17:00 daily. The Pro Shop opens at 08:00.

Car Parking

There is ample car parking space available for general use other than the seven marked bays reserved for officers of the club. On exceptionally busy days overflow parking is available on the grass or the surfaced area to the side of the drive opposite the staff bungalow.

We ask all visitors to make themselves known to the Pro Shop, by the 1st Tee, where you will be given the door security code and further directions.
