Bernard Darwin

“When we look at the sixth green from the tee and when we also look at the distance on the card we shall deem the green far out of our humble range, but we are hitting a little downhill and the prevailing wind is behind us, and in fact, we can often drive the green. Is this that makes it so perilous; indeed, we often wish afterwards that we had adopted the installment system. Just to the right of the small green is a bunker; just to the left of it is heathery morass peril, and the stroke must be a “pin-splitter” all the way. It is a great hole, for the tiger will always prevail if he is worthy of his name, and if he is not, the rabbit, with his modest four, will often and often beat him.”
